Nelson

I had an opportunity to build a net for one of my family members with a choice of two things to carve: 1) “a salmon with a sea lion chasing it and seagulls above waiting for the spoils” or 2) just a salmon. I opted for the latter. Ha! For a sense of scale, this salmon inlay is 2.8 inches long – needless to say, I’m pretty proud of it! The handle is one of my all time favorites: Fiddleback Myrtlewood. This wood gets much darker with age and exposure to UV, almost a honey brown color. The hoop has vibrant Bubinga, Wenge, Sapele, and Maple. The net is a Large hoop (RC shape) with a handle at a whopping 33 inches long, and sports the ever popular extra deep black net bag I like for salmon fishing and large trout fishing.
